About

I worry a lot about eating too much.

In my life, I’ve never had to think about how one responsibly takes from their immediate surroundings and what they put back into it. Genetically, I come from a long line of indulgent consumers. And I live in a culture with an overabundance of things to consume. And this taught me that the world is something you can freely take from; a garden in a perpetual state of harvest readiness, where seeds never need to be planted, weeding is never necessary, and no plant ever requires watering. As I learn to limit my consumption, I start to think about what I put back.

As a straight, white, cis gendered, American male, the privilege narrative I’m taught is freedom and unlimited consumption. It wasn’t until recently, that I had the economic privilege to really learn how to limit my consumption and the morality behind that. How do I respectfully consume? What can I participate in? What does it mean to appreciate versus what does it mean to appropriate? How do I consume data responsibly and produce respectfully? Had my economic status as a child been richer, would I have developed a drive to learn responsibility?

The Imbibe Universe explores these anxieties.

Earth is a planet populated by many and dominated by one.

Eruen is a world populated by few and dominated by one.

Gliti’ics is a planet populated by many and dominated by many.

In the Imbibe Universe, life is plentiful but consciousness is rare. How do species become sentient? What obligation do sentient species have to each other? Is it possible to escape planets without eating them? The people inhabiting the Imbibe Universe explore concepts like speciesism, appropriation, consumption and destiny obsession.
